Griffin in The Witcher 3
The White Orchard griffin is the first major contract and a tutorial in tracking, preparation and airborne monster control.
Short answer. Track the griffin with Witcher Senses, use Quen before committing to melee, and switch to the crossbow whenever it climbs out of sword range.

Where to find it and what to do
Begin from the White Orchard notice board and speak with the Nilfgaardian commander. The hunt moves through the riverbank and the open fields north of the village.

Do not chase the griffin into a group of enemies. Reposition toward open ground before resuming the fight.
The Remastered combat pass changed animation timing. Dodge late rather than spamming early rolls when the griffin dives.
