The Witcher 3 Death March tips and build guide
On Death March, survival comes from preparation: correct sword and oil, Quen or crowd control, conservative stamina use and a complete armor set before raw damage optimization.
01 / Prerequisites
Prepare before leaving
- ✓Accept that resource preparation matters more than on lower difficulties.
- ✓Keep a complete defensive build.
- ✓Track healing and repair supplies.
02 / Route
Follow the path in order
- 01
Build for recovery, not only damage
Ursine gear, Quen and dependable healing give you more room to learn a fight. Once survival is stable, add the damage layer that matches the enemy.
- 02
Prepare before every contract
Read the bestiary, apply the correct oil, choose the useful bomb and equip the sign that answers the monster class. Preparation is the cheapest difficulty reduction.
- 03
Protect stamina
Always reserve stamina for a dodge or Quen. Death March punishes empty-stamina greed more than it punishes low damage.
- 04
Read Remastered combat timing
Use the updated animation timing instead of old roll-spam habits. Dodge after the attack commits, then take one clean counter window.
- 05
Use lower-risk progression
Play contracts near your level, upgrade one complete set and complete Places of Power before entering a heavily out-leveled region.
03 / Common mistakes
Avoid the expensive reset
Do not assume heavy armor makes you invincible; it only improves the margin for a timing mistake.
Do not enter a boss with low durability, no healing and the wrong oil.
Avoid fighting large groups in the open. Break line of sight and create a one-on-one fight.
