Witcher 3 Gwent cards and complete collection guide
Build the Gwent collection by buying every affordable card, playing each new opponent once, completing faction quests and tracking unique tournament cards before their story windows close.
01 / Prerequisites
Prepare before leaving
- ✓Start the Gwent tutorial.
- ✓Keep a Northern Realms deck ready.
- ✓Track one-time matches separately from ordinary merchants.
02 / Route
Follow the path in order
- 01
Buy cards before leaving a settlement
Innkeepers and merchants often sell cards. Buy the affordable ones while you are already in the area to avoid repeating travel later.
- 02
Play every new opponent
Unique cards come from specific matches. When a new Gwent opponent appears, play once before the associated quest or story route closes.
- 03
Complete the tournament routes
Gwent tournaments and character quests contain cards that can be missed if the surrounding story has already advanced.
- 04
Build faction decks as rewards arrive
You do not need to force one deck from the beginning. Use Northern Realms as the stable starter while expanding Nilfgaard, Scoia’tael, Monsters and Skellige.
- 05
Audit the collection by region
Before moving to a new region, review merchants, innkeepers, unique players and quest-related matches in the current one.
03 / Common mistakes
Avoid the expensive reset
A card collection guide is not useful if it ignores one-time opponents and tournament windows.
Do not sell or ignore duplicate cards before checking whether they belong to a different faction deck.
Some Gwent cards are tied to the main story and cannot be recovered after the relevant scene.
